Having to write this letter is bittersweet.

After all, it’s a love letter.

It comes from our hearts.

To our Avon Gardens Community,

Karen Robbins’ ultimate goal was to ensure the continuation of the garden she started in 1987.  Our most important goal will always be to honor and preserve the beauty she created.  Karen saw something in everyone here and left behind a team who cares deeply about her, Avon Gardens, and each other.  We loved her dearly and feel so grateful to walk her gardens daily.  Karen was passionate about sharing her garden and her wisdom, and she loved to inspire others.  We are committed to carrying on Karen’s legacy, so we can share the garden she created with as many people as possible for years to come.

Our vision is to see the gardens continue to thrive in its current beauty, while also seeing it grow and flourish in new fields in the future. Some of our team's shared passions lie in sustainability and education. While we have already taken small steps in sharing these with the Avon Gardens community, we look forward to planning greater initiatives in both of these areas. Other passions shared by Karen and the staff of Avon Gardens include animal rescue, holistic wellness, and environmental initiatives. We are looking forward to honoring those passions through community involvement and partnering with local organizations.

We are extremely grateful for all of the support each and every one of you has shown us. We cannot thank you enough and look forward to seeing all of you at Avon Gardens!

Sincerely,

Tara Cody & Taylor Doehrman

She previously worked in Newfields’ Art & Nature Park where she helped install the largest pollinator meadow in Indianapolis. You might spot her in the Gardens or in the Garden Shop, or out on a landscaping job. Some of her favorite plants include Ironweed, Zinnias, Lavender, and Aloe (also the name of her pup!).
